RULES
Rules of play
- No gambling! Federal and Provincial Laws strictly prohibit playing for money as stated in the Criminal Code of Canada. Any player caught betting for cash, property or anything of value including discussing a money game during play will be terminated from the league. There are no exceptions! Players may NOT appeal this decision.
- In the case of a dispute the decision of the Tournament Director shall be final.
- Any player caught cheating will be banned from the Big Slick Poker Tour.
- All players must be of legal drinking age in the province they reside in to participate in the Big Slick Poker Tour. If there is any doubt, request valid photo I.D.
- Only players registered in the tournament will be allowed to sit at the table.
- Any player who threatens another player or becomes verbally abusive will be asked to leave the tournament.
- A player who leaves the tournament prior to it ending has two choices: surrender the chips to the Tournament Director or leave their chips at the table to be blinded out.
- Do not splash the pot. The person dealing will collect the chips into the centre of the table.
- All tables should have close to the same number of players, this means some players will be added or removed from your table during the tournament. A new player cannot play a hand in the small blind when joining the table. He/she must wait until the blind passes.
- Blinds go up every 20 minutes.
- The first 80 players registered will secure their seat in the tournament. A waiting list of 20 players maximum will be added. No waiting list player may join the tournament after 1 hour. This is to ensure fairness and that the game ends in a timely fashion. Your blinds will be removed from your chips prior to entering.
- In the case of a split pot with an extra chip, the lowest denomination chip will go to the player first left of the dealer.
- If a player leaves the table during play to use the bathroom or get a drink they will still be dealt a hand. If they have not bet prior to returning the hand will be declared dead.
- No player can play another players hand.
- Players’ chips must be visible at all times.
- Any player putting chips in their pocket will be disqualified from the tournament and the chips will be removed from the tournament.
- Players’ cards must also be visible at all times. If a player lowers the cards below the table, that players hand will be considered dead.
- If a player is dealt an extra card in error, or if a card is seen by any player during the deal, that card will be considered the burn card.
- When a player loses his/her chips, they are eliminated from the tournament and must leave the table.
- The tournament ends when one player wins all the chips.
- English only at the tables.
- A player must announce their intentions when betting BEFORE they take the action. If raising, announce ‘RAISE’ and the amount of the raise BEFORE placing the chips into play.
- If a player puts chips into the pot without declaring an intention, it will be considered a call
Poker Etiquette
- The following actions are improper, and grounds for warning, suspending, or barring a violator:
- Deliberately or repeatedly acting out of turn.
- Deliberately splashing chips into the pot.
- Agreeing to check a hand out when a third player is all-in.
- Reading a hand for another player at the showdown before it has been placed face up on the table.
- Telling anyone to turn a hand face up at the showdown.
- Revealing the contents of a live hand in a multi-handed pot before the betting is complete.
- Revealing the contents of a folded hand before the betting is complete. Do not divulge the contents of a hand during a deal even to someone not in the pot, so you do not leave any possibility of the information being transmitted to an active player.
- Needlessly stalling the action of a game.
- Deliberately discarding hands away from the muck. Cards should be released in a low line of flight, at a moderate rate of speed (not at the dealer's hands or chip-rack).
- Stacking chips in a manner that interferes with dealing or viewing cards.
- Making statements or taking action that could unfairly influence the course of play, whether or not the offender is involved in the pot.
- Using a cell phone at the table.
